Former Makadara Member of Parliament Benson Mutura has weighed in on Siaya Senator James Orengo's recent remarks on Wednesday.

In an interview on one of the local leading television stations, Orengo claimed that alliance talks are ongoing between President Uhuru Kenyatta and the ODM party.

However, he has since emerged to rubbish the translation of his remarks, claiming that he was misquoted.

But speaking on Saturday, Mutura suspected that Orengo was very much aware of what he said which is most likely the stand of the opposition boss Raila Odinga-led party.

"Orengo was not misquoted. There are very low chances that he was. What he said must be the actual stand of the party," he said.

The ex-lawmaker was speaking on Radio Jambo Mazungumzo Waziwazi Saturday morning.

He based this on the lawmaker's position as a top insider of the party and close ally of Raila who is expected to carry the party's flag in the presidential race.

"Orengo is not just anyone in ODM. He is the chief advisor of Raila and the party. He is not a person who just speaks anyhow," he added.

But Orengo maintains that he never intended to raise political temperatures of raise political debates in the country.
