Kiambu Women Representative Gathoni Wa Muchomba has advised university girls to stop dating sponsors.
Wa Muchomba said young varsity girls are ruining their lives by dating older married men for financial and material benefits.
Speaking to journalists in Kabete on Friday, the vocal Jubilee MP said that cases of young girls being killed by sponsors are on the rise.
She pleaded with university girls to avoid 'sponsors' and instead concentrate on their studies.
“There are many cases where our young girls are killed in love triangles with sponsors,” she said.
Wa Muchomba said that many cases of innocent lives being lost in love triangles go unreported.
She was reacting to the mysterious killing of Sharon Otieno, a second-year student at Rongo University.
Sharon was abducted on Monday before being murdered by her assailants.
Detectives say that the student could have been raped before being killed.
Sharon’s parents now claim that she had a relationship with Migori Governor Okoth Obado. The family further claims that Sharon was seven months pregnant.
The Governor has since rubbished the claims.
Detectives are, however, holding Obado’s personal assistant Michael Oyamo in connection to the murder.
