There is a public outcry in Kibera after a Leads University student was allegedly gunned down by police in what is said to have been a mistaken identity operation.
Carilton David Maina had just come home for the holidays from university when he met his untimely death in the face of stray bullets.
The deceased is a former student at Arch Bishop Gitari Primary School and Maseno School where he completed with a GPA of A Plain in all the eight subjects except Business Studies where he scored an A- (Minus).
He received admission at the University of Nairobi but could not join owing to financial constraints.
The financial problem at home led him to apply for a scholarship in Brookhouse successfully.
Maina was then admitted to Leads University to pursue an engineering course in Electronic and Communication.
Having come home for the holidays, Maina walking home after watching a football match at a nearby movie shop.
He loved soccer and hoped to play as a goalkeeper to one of the big soccer teams one day.
