The decision by Kisii Women Rep Janet Ong'era to back Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 bid will not hamper ODM party's strength in Gusii, Timothy Bosire has said.
In an interesting twist of events over the weekend, Ong'era, a former nominated senator and ODM Executive Director, said Ruto's presidency was unstoppable.
"All we need from him is to ensure Gusii region gets a PM slot. We have been undermined at the national stage for long but his presidency is a reality," she said.
She becomes one of the few remaining elected leaders from Gusii to ditch Raila Odinga led opposition for Ruto.
But in an interview, Bosire, a former Kitutu Masaba MP and ODM treasurer said the party will soldier on.
"Each and every person has a right to be associated with the party of their choice. As ODM, we are focused top strengthen he party. We shall have others joining."
Nyamira ODM chairman Richard Kaka added: "The party enjoys massive support in Gusii and we shall not be moved. Those leaving are free to do so."
In fact, only Nyamira senator Okong'o Mogeni, Governor James Ongwae and his Nyamira counterpart John Nyagarama have not publicly supported Ruto.
Since October elections, Ruto has toured the populous Gusii region for more than four occasions.
