President Uhuru Kenyatta’s succession has taken shape in Mt. Kenya after a party linked Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria on Monday.
The political movement, Civic Renewal Party (CRP) was awarded a certificate from Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu. Nderitu confirmed that the party is now fully registered after the members fulfilled all the requirements. The members settled on a cow and milk as its symbol.
The party chose black, green and gold colors for the party symbol.
According to the party, more than 300,000 members from different parts of the country have already registered with it as the race to succeed President Kenyatta, who is completing his second and final term in government, hots up.
Nderitu said that they had conducted an the necessary processes and they were convinced to register the party.
“We have officially registered two political parties which have successfully concluded the minimum requirements of having 1,000 members in at least 24 counties and having a functional national governing council that conforms to Article 100 of the Constitution of Kenya,” Ms Nderitu told Daily Nation.
The registration comes amid Deputy President William Ruto’s alleged assassination.
The DCI has already embarked on investigation into the matter after summoning four cabinet Secretaries in relation to the matter.
