Two Nakuru MPs are among four legislators summoned by the National Assembly’s Powers and Privileges Committee over the shooting down of the contraband sugar report.
The MPs are said to have played a role or witnessed lawmakers being bribed to dismiss the report last month.
The two MPs from Nakuru are David Gikaria of Nakuru Town East and Joseph Tunio of Kuresoi South.
Others are Rehab Mukami (Nyeri) and Fatma Gedi (Wajir Woman representative).
The four were adversely mentioned by their colleagues as having participated in one way or another in bribery to make the report was not adopted.
Matayos MP Geoffrey Odanga said the Kuresoi South MP tried to bribe him.
“I was at the restaurant taking lunch with my two constituents when I was approached by Mr Tonui, who told me to go to a room and collect Sh20, 000 in order to vote against the report,” Odanga said.
The summons has led to panic within parliament as MPs fear DCI detectives might pounce anytime if there is evidence over the claims.
An MP mentioned in the claims dismissed the accusations and said: “Unafikiria mbunge ni mtu hivi hivi, wacha mambo yako wewe.”
