Ugenya parliamentary aspirant Daniel Juma has called it quits with Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga ahead of the by-elections slated for April 5, 2019.
In a statement released to media houses on Saturday, Juma cited unfair treatment in the political outfit following the direct nomination of immediate former MP Chris Karan for the upcoming poll.
He has promised to give the ODM candidate a run for his money when that time comes.
He said that he was not happy with the fact that the party ignored his request for nomination.
Juma had said that he chose not to oppose the nomination in the first place but the failure by the party to listen to his demands led to his resignation.
“I have opted to quit my beloved ODM to enable me to seek alternative avenues of vying for the seat,” reads part of his statement, as quoted by Standard.
He, however, expressed confidence that he will clinch the seat with a landslide despite resignation.
The race, which has already attracted three candidates, is expected to be a battle of the Titans.
Former MP David Ochieng who will be contesting for the seat through Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) ticket has vowed to show his competitors dust.
