A section of university ladies in Eldoret is unhappy after a video went viral showing Nairobi ladies scrambling to touch Bongo star Lava Lava's private parts.
The Tanzanian artist who is signed under the record label, Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB) was performing during Wasafi festival on December 31 in Nairobi when the ladies went crazy over him.
The video has since then gone viral with some labeling the ladies 'mafisilet'.
Female students at Moi University are however not happy with the ladies captured in the video.
"I do understand that Kenyan ladies are big fans of Lava Lava and the entire WCB. But those ladies went a little bit too far. They have damaged the image of Kenyan women. Most people are now thinking of us as being cheap and desperate. Personally, I'd love to see those ladies singled out and shamed for their behaviour," Brenda Nasambu, a third-year student in the School of Information Science stated.
For Linda Cheptoo, an upcoming artist and also a fourth-year student, it is the general perception of ladies who rave that is making them angry.
"When somebody watches that video, he or she will think that every lady who raves or parties at night is 'lose' and that is not actually the case, some of us just want to have fun and we have our own principles," Cheptoo said.
Rachael Wambui who is a feminist, was shocked at how the ladies stooped so low and cheap.
"It was very disappointing for those ladies to throw themselves at the artist as if they are sex tools. Such scenarios make men despise women. For as long as such behaviour continues, women will always be viewed as tools for sex. Ladies, please let us have some self-respect," Wambui who is also a third-year student, noted.
This is not the first time ladies are going crazy for Lava Lava, a while back a female fan kissed him live on stage.
