Two suspects facing murder charges have been freed on a cash bail of Sh700 000 or a bond of Sh2 000 000.
William Kipkorir Chirchir and Godfrey Kipng’etich Kirui, who are police officers, were freed by a Milimani high court.
The two are charged with killing Janet Wangui at the City Park on May 20, 2018.
It was claimed that Wangui was in a tinted car with her nephew when informers tipped the officers about a ‘suspicious’ car in the area.
The suspects have denied the murder charges.
Lady Justice Stella Mutuku said the prosecution failed to convince the court against releasing the two on bond.
“The apprehension by the prosecution that the accused will interfere with the witnesses or abscond bail is not backed by persuasive evidence to lead me to find that there are compelling reasons against granting of this application,” said Mutuku.
