A member of the County Assembly of Siaya has made claims that there’s a political plan to succeed Siaya governor Cornel Amoth Rasanga with Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju in 2022.

Showing his displeasure by the purported plan, West Asembo MCA Ambrose Auma Akuno said that the plan is being hatched by senior politicians in the county.

“The position of the governor should be given to someone who can work for the people of Siaya and not someone planted to serve selfish interests. Tuju should sell his policies and not wait to be endorsed during campaigns,” the MCA told Kisumu based Dala FM.

However, the MCA did not name politicians he claims are hell-bent on ‘handing’ Tuju the highest political seat in the county.

During the burial of his younger brother early this month, the former Rarieda MP, however, denied allegations that he intends to vie for the Siaya County gubernatorial seat in 2022.

MCA Akuno’s sentiments come in the wake of rumours going around that Siaya Senator James Orengo and Governor Rasanga have hatched a plot to swap seats in 2022.

It is alleged that Orengo will vie for the gubernatorial seat, while Rasanga climbs down to the Senatorial seat.

Former Rarieda MP Nicholas Odero Gumbo who was narrowly defeated by the current governor in the previous polls is also among those said to be angling to succeed Rasanga in 2022.
