The 33-year old striker was unveiled by the club's chairman Ambrose Rachier.

Reports indicate that Oliech will be paid a monthly salary of Sh350,000 for the time he will be at the club.

In my opinion, the club shouldn't has signed Oliech because he is too expensive and may not offer Gor Mahia value for money.

Secondly, age has caught up with him, and he may not therefore be as productive as he was in the previous years.

Thirdly, there is no record indicating that the legendary striker has been playing any competitive football in the past few months. It is therefore not clear whether he may be fit to fight for starting position against Rwandese Jacques Tuyisenge who is on form.

Whereas some people will argue that he has vast experience to share with the team, I still hold that the club should not have signed hinm as a player. If it was really necessary, he should have been brought on board as a member of the technical bench.

Furthermore, his salary is hefty, and could have been used to pay three or more players who can deliver better results as compared to him.

Although, he is a respected figure in the Kenyan football scene, his signing may cause more harm than good to the team.

It will not be a surprise to hear players going on go slows, or complaining that they work so hard but are no paid well enough as Oliech is being paid, considering that the club has been having financial constraints.
