Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has ruled out working with Deputy President William Ruto in the approaching 2022 elections.
Speaking on Thursday, the opposition figure said that he cannot work with the DP who has already announced his presidential bid in the elections, as he is also eyeing the same position.
Citing his intentions to succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta as well, Mudavadi said that it would be hilarious to expect him to once again shelve his bid in favour of someone else.
He added that instead, he will actually be in the feontline fighting him in the ballot, also pointing out that Ruto has not made any attempt to woo him for his cooperation at any point.
"Sisi ni competitors, sote tunagombea. Wale wenye ndoto eti atanialika waamke kwa sababu sote tuko kwa debe (We are competitors. Those dreaming about him inviting me to work together should wake up. We will both be in the ballot)," he said.
Mudavadi was speaking on Radio Citizen's Mjadala Wa Citizen show on Thursday morning.
Ruto is already enjoying a great support from a number of leaders across the nation, while the former Vice President has remained largely silent and calm, three years to the polls.
The DP has in the process found himself under attacks for allegedly engaging in early politicking, thanks to the many endorsements he has been receiving from his allies.
The DP has hinted at vying on the ruling Jubilee Party ticket, while Mudavadi who will be taking his second shot, after his flopped bid in 2013, is likely to vie on his ANC ticket.
