Long-time vocal Tanga Tanga spanner boy Joash Maangi has changed tune from selling the Deputy President in Kisii to supporting the new Obomo Bw'omogusii movement propelled by Matiangi's ally.
Joash who is also the Kisii Deputy Governor has recently gone cold on DP Ruto in fear of losing ground for his ambition to succeed his boss in 2022. His new move is aimed at convincing the outgoing Governor James Ongwae who is supporting Matiangi to endorse him for the gubernatorial seat.
Addressing mourners in Nyamira on Sunday during the burial of flamboyant tea tycoon Stephen Mogeni, Maangi said that he is ready to support Obomo if he is sure the propellers are aimed at seriously uniting the Abagusii Community.
"I started Obomo some years back and people branded me as a tumbocrat. Am ready to join in supporting the new Obomo movement if indeed the propellers are honest in uniting our community," said Maangi.
A close confidant to him who requested anonymity told this writer that Maangi is hanging on a balance risking to lose both ODM and Jubilee tickets for 2022.
The Tanga Tanga MPs who have been pushing Ruto in Gusii include Ben Momanyi, Joash Nyamoko, Alfa Miruka, Vincent Kemosi among others went cold in the heavily attended ceremony.
Kisii Governor James Ongwae, Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama, Kisii Senator Sam Ongeri, Nyamira senator Okongo Mogeni and Women Reps are among the top leaders of the hyped Matiang'i's movement.
