It is 25 years since Mzee Jaramogi Oginga Odinga passed on. On Sunday January 20, 2019, Raila Odinga recalled moments and attributes of the late hero and African Icon.
Through his Facebook page, Raila has recalled his father as an African leader.
"Twenty five years ago today, you left us. But your spirit and selfless actions continue to inspire us in Kenya and millions across Africa. On this day we honour you Jaramogi."
He attended a mass at St Peter's Bondo catholic church in Nyamira, a few meters from where the late Mzee Jaramogi was laid. He was accompamied by President Uhuru's brother Muhoho Kenyatta and Jubilee party Secretary general Raphael Tuju.
Later on in the day, they visited the Kang'o ka Jaramogi national mausoleum where they lay bouquets of flowers in honor of the late Jaramogi to mark his 25th anniversary. They will also do the same to Fidel Odinga.
The presence of President Uhuru Kenyatta's brother at the event sparked an online buzz as a sign of unity and continuity of the 'handshake.'
