Political analyst Michael Agwanda has opined that opposition leader Raila Odinga will win the presidency in the approaching 2022 general elections.
Speaking on Radio Maisha on Monday morning, the political commentator observed that the National Super Alliance (NASA) chief is better placed to capture the position should he take his fifth stab in the race.
Citing the ongoing confusion within the ruling Jubilee Party, Agwanda noted that Deputy President William Ruto has a slim chance of clinching the seat, adding that the same case applies to Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, which is an added advantage for Odinga.
He added that Raila will also benefit big from his ongoing silent campaigns, including regular meetings with leaders from the Mount Kenya region, an areaa that has for long voted against him.
‘’Raila anapoendelea kukutana na viongozi wa Central anaendelea kupata support katika maeneo yasiyo ngome zake (the more he meets Central Kenya leaders the more he is gaining ground in a region deemed hostile to his candidature),’’ he said.
Agwanda claimed that Odinga will also benefit from his current political romance with President Uhuru Kenyatta after their March 9 truce, hence the uneasiness on Ruto’s camp.
He added that the veteran leader is as well capable of winning the seat with or without the backing of other leaders, noting that Kenyans will reward him for his sacrifices for the nation and their well being.
''Marafiki wa Ruto wanajua Raila akiendelea kukaa na Uhuru Ruto hatakua na nafasi na ndio maana wanalalamika (Ruto's allies are aware that with Raila next to Uhuru, Ruto is doomed and that's why they are complaining),'' he said.
''Though Ruto is also not to be pushed over, I can assure you that if Raila will be on the ballot in 2022 then he will win to become the next President,'' he added.
