The debate about DP William Ruto's generosity could yet again be ignited following his decision to donate a whooping Sh10 million towards construction of South Nyanza Conference for the SDA Church.
In recent weeks, a section of politicians led by Raila Odinga have openly questioned Ruto's source of wealth, with some linking it to corruption related deals.
"Some people carry money to church in sacks. You should not take such gifts which you don't know where they come from. The church should come out and reject it," Odinga said in December during elevation of Archbishop Philip Anyolo.
But Ruto has often dismissed his critics, accusing them of worshipping Satan. He has also insisted that he gives what God has blessed him with.
At Gusii stadium on Saturday, the DP asked the church to pray for him adding that some people feel 'bad' when he helps in construction of churches across the country.
"As Christians, you should pray for me. Whenever am out here to help, am told that it's corruption money. Some people who don't value Christianity will always come out and try to harm us," he said amid laughter.
It was not the first time Ruto was contributing such sums of money given that in the past, he has carried bundles of notes for fundraisers across Kenya.
The Saturday's action could cause divisions within the SDA Church with a section of faithfuls from Nyamira condemning pastors who had allowed the fundraiser to take place.
