The project was implemented by the Lake Victoria North Water Services Board at a cost of Sh625 million in a bid to address an acute shortage of water that locals in Eldoret town and its environs face.

Eldoret town currently relies on water supply from the Chebara treatment plant in the neighbouring Elgeyo Marakwet county but the Ellegarini project will go a long way to increase the water supply of Eldoret town by restoring the existing Kapsoya Treatment Works.

“The Ellegerini water pipeline and Kapsoya Treatment Plant will alleviate the shortage of water distribution to residents of Eldoret and its environs and ensure a steady supply of the commodity to 15,000 households. The provision of safe drinking water for everyone and its use for domestic, commercial and farming purposes is our major concern,” posted DP Ruto on his official Facebook page.
