Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula was involved in a heated exchange a fortnight ago with the father of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Garissa Senator Haji.
The exchange was triggered by Senator's Hajji's remarks in the Senate that cast aspersions on the academic credentials of Machakos Senator Boniface Mutinda Kabaka.
"It is very unfair for the distinguished senator for Garissa whom I have tremendous respect for to question the credibility of Senator Kabaka's professional standing as a lawyer. He is a lawyer. We as lawyers know him as a very distinguished lawyer,'' Wetangula fired.
The Garissa Senator did not take the words lightly and fired a response.
''I did not say that he is not a lawyer. I said if he is a lawyer. I don't know if he is a lawyer. You people like to twist words. We are not people who twist words,'' Senator Haji fired back.
The testy exchange happened in the context of an animated debate on the sugar saga that has gripped the country for days on end.
