Fresh details have emerged on how Victor Kiprotich, a second year Garissa University student, allegedly went missing from the institution on Monday this week.
According to a police source, the student had been spotted at the Garissa Town Huduma center before his disappearance.
It is reported that he had felt dizzy and decided to have a rest under some trees next to Hass petrol and filling station along the Garisa–Nairobi road.
Moments later, one of the boda-boda riders plying the route picked him after suspecting that he was unwell and inquired if they could be of any help.
“One of the boda boda riders asked how much cash he had so that he could be taken to a nearby hospital for medication. But, instead the rider took Kiprotich towards Raya, which is approximately 12 kilometers away from Garissa town and, thereafter, dumped him just by the roadside,” said the source.
“When the student regained enough consciousness, he then walked to the Garissa police station to report the incident since he could not explain the circumstances and events that had befallen him.” added the source.
On Friday, Garissa sub-county Aron Moriasi, announced that the student had been found and was being attended to by doctors at a local hospital.
His alleged disappearance sparked violent protests by his colleagues who claimed that he had been abducted by uniformed police officers.
