This led to mixed furious reactions from the DP Ruto’s camp.

A lot of politicians allied to the DP attacked Atwoli telling him to keep off politics and focus on matters COTU.

Residents of Uasin Gishu which is the home turf of the DP have also taken centre stage in accusing Atwoli.

“He should examine himself well, he has been secretary general of COTU for so long: he need to step down for a younger mind, let him respect his age and give the DP a break, how does he know if the DP will not be on the ballot in 2022?,” wondered Steven Rop, an ardent DP supporter based in Eldoret

The COTU boss told off the DP over the weekend in what seemed to be another political war looming between the two leaders.

“Mr Atwoli should go to a nearby police station and record a statement amid the claims he made that the DP’s name would not be on the presidential ballot papers in 2022, maybe there are evil plans he has against our political kingpin,” said Allan Maiyo, another DP's die-hard supporter on Eldoret’s Oloo street.

It was evident that majority of the DP’s fans in his home turf were annoyed by Atwoli’s remarks and they want him to make a public apology.
