With regards to his presidential ambitions, Deputy William Ruto will obviously be eyeing votes from across the nation, including the vote-rich Kisumu county.
However, as things stand now, he is very unlikely to get more than a handful of the vote courtesy of his enmity with opposition leader Raila Odinga, the county's political kingpin and the entire Nyanza region.
Therefore, one of his only choices would be to talk Raila into supporting his bid, a task that would not be easy as Raila is also considered to be warming up for the same race.
But should he manage to get Raila's backing, then he will get the majority of the vote, considering that Raila is the ultimate political decision maker of the region.
He can also depend on the sympathy and debt vote and might consider demanding for the debt he gave when he backed Raila's 2007 ambition for the top seat.
He can then approach the county with the narrative that the region should give back, and if done humbly, he could end up scooping a little more votes.
Also, he can pick strong point men from the county and can go for notable figures who might help in tilting the region's voting patterns in his favour.
However, this might as well backfire since the group might face hostility from voters, and he will have destroyed their future.
