Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has denied claims that he went to Israel to 'hawk' soapstone.
Ongwae while speaking on Wednesday at Gusii Stadium said his trip to Israel a few days ago was meant to lure investors to the county and seek donations.
"I wish to refute the falsehood being spread that I took cheap soapstone from Kisii to Israel to hawk. Kisii residents deserve to know the truth about my trip. I went to Israel to plead with investors to come and invest in our county as well ask for donations to fund various projects across the county," he noted.
The ODM governor maintained that he will continue going abroad to market Kisii County.
"I am not ready to engage my political rivals who are desperate. I will continue marketing the county whenever I go to foreign countries so that we can have more professionals, tourists and investors coming to Kisii County," he added.
The county boss called upon police officers to be more vigilant and arrest local politicians engaging in divisive politics with an aim to subdivide locals along political lines.
