The fact that his term is expiring in 2022 has elicited rife speculations as to whether he will be vying for the senatorial post, but this would serve a political demotion to him.

However, the recent deal to revive the North Rift economic bloc has become the latest topic of discussion.

Many now believe that Mandago's active role in reviving the economic bloc is a scheme to secure his future in politics after 2022.

Since the bloc will cater for at least 8 North Rift counties, being at the helm of the umbrella forum will mean that the Chief Executive Officer (CE0) will be manning the entire region that has been known to channel top public figures in the country.

All the governors present during the summit agreed to create an Investment and Commercial Development Authority (ICDA), a body that will act as a sole legal entity to oversee agreements and partnerships with other regional development authorities.

Going by this fact alone, it is an open secret that the bloc will be playing an active role in regional politics.

It is just a matter of time before the real significance of the summit outs to the public and whether the Uasin Gishu governor has already secured his political future after 2022.
