Speaking in Makindu, Makueni County on Monday, Kalonzo said that Wiper will now consider Muungano as the minority and opposition party in the county.

The NASA principal said that the agreement signed by the two parties was for one year, adding that the pact expired last year.

"We signed a one-year agreement and it has expired. We have no ties with Muungano whatsoever," said Kalonzo.

"Muungano is now the opposition party in Makueni County since they are the minority while Wiper has the majority of MCA's," he added.

Kalonzo made the remarks when he met with Wiper leaders in Makindu, adding that he will notify the registrar of parties about the new development.

He noted that since entering an agreement with the political outfit, Wiper has been fought by leaders from Muungano in a bid to cripple it.

This comes days after Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana asked Kalonzo to retire from active politics and support his bid for the presidency.

Kibwana argued that Makueni offers Kalonzo the biggest support compared to other Ukambani counties.

His sentiments irked a section of Wiper leaders among them Kathiani Member of Parliament Robert Mbui and Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama.

Some of the Wiper MCAs in Makueni have threatened to impeach Kibwana over his constant attacks on Kalonzo.
