Kenyans have expressed mixed reactions following revelations that Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja declined requests by some MPs that he flies with them to Russia to watch the World Cup.
Sakaja was on Thursday photographed reading a newspaper story that reported that a total of 20 MPs had traveled to Russia to watch the world's largest and competitive soccer tournament.
Among those said to have traveled is Sakaja's Nairobi close political friend Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga whose photo in Russia has been making rounds on social media.
Kenyan's reactions
A one Rusty Case posted on Twitter: "So? He has to do the work he was elected to do. He wasn't elected to have joy rides on public funds!!! Mud sticks."
Another Twitter user PLO Lumumba did not approve Sakaja's refusal to travel but accused him always ignoring his calls to meet him. "I always ask for an appointment from him but he is never available," he posted before Enockz tweeted saying:
"Damage control, had already reported he is in Russia."
"Well played, well played Johnson Sakaja," said Elijah M who praised the Senator of his relentless efforts in uplifting the livelihoods of the youth in Nairobi County.
Man P accused The Star newspaper of engaging in Public Relations and promoting Sakaja who he said has done little to help Nairobians from the time he was elected.
