President Uhuru Kenyatta has fired Sports CS Rashid Echesa and appointed Amb. Amina Mohamed as his replacement while KNEC chair Prof George Magoha has been appointed as the Education CS.
The dismissal Echesa has generated reactions from Kenyans on twitter popularly known as KOT. Kenyans were divided on the firing of the CS with of some believing it is a scapegoat for the corruption menace in the country.
Some of the reactions to the news of Echesa's dismissal include:
"All the wash-wash guys recently arrested are confirmed associates of CS Rashid Echesa. They even organized his homecoming. Lendrix Waswa is the leader of the crooks," tweeted blogger Robert Alai.
"We’ve more Incompetent and corrupt CSs but they decided to ax Rashid Echesa as a sacrificial lamb. Balala, Rotich, Wamalwa, Kiunjuri, Amina Mohammed, Macharia, CS Sicily are worst CSs but no one will touch them. PR haitasaidia Kenya. But George Magoha ako sawa! #CabinetReshuffle," tweeted Juma Odhiambo.
Top lawyer Nelson Havi tweeted, "President Uhuru Kenyatta’s firing of Sports CS Rashid Echesa is cosmetic surgery on the nose of a bedridden heart patient. What he needs to perform is an open heart surgery to deal with the blocked pulmonary artery and vein: Finance; Energy; Agriculture; Water and Mining."
On his part, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has praised the selection of Magoha to head the Education docket He as well wished Amina success in her new position.
"Congratulations to my friend http://Prof.George Albert Omore Magoha for your well-deserved appointment. Best wishes to my sister Amb.Mohamed in her new station. To my friend Rashid Echesa good speed!" tweeted Murkomen.
The country has been gripped with the problem of corruption with billions of shillings being lost from various departments of the government.
