A middle-aged man from Nyanturago area in Nyamira County has left many in shock after he allegedly committed suicide barely a few days after being accused of raping her daughter.
The man identified as Emmanuel Nyasimi is said to have drunk beer in a neighbouring village on Monday evening before purchasing pesticide and drinking it.
According to Edwin Nyasimi a brother to the deceased his brother came home on Monday evening and was unconscious and upon rushing him to the nearest dispensary where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
“The Nyanturago medics led by Irene Nyatichi pronounced the death of our bother and they said he had elements of poison in his body meaning he probably committed suicide due to the investigations that they were facing,” said Edwin Nyasimi.
Confirming the incident area chief Simon Nyabaro said the man was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital after some of his friends rushed him to the hospital.
“The police have been investigating the man for the last two days after he was accused by the family of raping his 12-year-old daughter,” said Simon.
The Chief further added that the police have been looking for the man but he has been at large and he only came back home on Monday evening drunk and unconscious.
