French President Emmanuel Macron is on Wednesday, March 13, expected to arrive in the country for a two-day State visit.
French Ambassador Aline Kuster-Menager, confirmed that Macron would visit the country when she paid a courtesy call on President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi last month.
“Traditionally, Kenya and France enjoy strong bilateral ties and I am pleased that we’ve continued to deepen the relations. I look forward to the visit by President Macron,” President Kenyatta said.
On Tuesday, Mombasa Deputy Governor Dr William Kingi engaged with a group of French investors (at the Movenpick Hotel Nairobi). The delegation is in the country for reconnaissance ahead of the official state visit by the President of the Republic of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The parties deliberated on a myriad of possible partnerships between French companies and the County Government of Mombasa for the mutual benefit of Mombasa residents.
The blue economy, low cost housing and urban planning, water and sanitation, water transport and coastal zone management were the major topics of discussion.
"Even as the official state visit of President Macron begins tomorrow we look forward to far reaching partnerships between Kenya and France that will positively impact our people," Kingi said on Tuesday.
During President Macron’s visit, Kenya and France are expected to sign several agreements and MoUs covering various subjects of mutual interest between the two countries including the proposed rapid transit train service between Nairobi Central Business District and the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
