Residents of Kisii county are living in fear after raw sewage invaded rivers across the county the worst hit being river Nyakomisaro which passes through Daraja Mbili.
A spot check done on Wednesday revealed that residents are no longer taking their cattle to drink water at rivers.

Locals of Etora village in Bobasi have accused Kisii County government led by Governor Ongwae for failing to address the menace.
"We are living in fear because water in rivers has turned to be sewage. Ongwae's administration is doing nothing to repair the blocked sewage lines which are now posing a health risk to us," said Veronica Nyang'wono.

Evans Gekondo said the sewage menace usually starts when the county is receiving rains.
"Sewage has flooded everywhere. Our kids and livestock are at risk of getting disease infections associated to a dirty environment," said Mr. Gekondo.
