A Kenyan woman described as Nairobi's drug queen was on Friday arrested in Syokimau after a multi-agency operation.
During the raid, Ms. Elizabeth Akinyi Mboga was found in possession of two kilogrammes of heroin valued at Sh3 million, passports and e-tickets. The travel documents are believed to belong to her distributors.
According to reports, the suspect has been thriving by recruiting young men and women looking for jobs. She is said to be carrying out the recruitment on behalf of Nigerian drug cartels.
The cartels are allegedly based in Nigeria, India, Tanzania and Ethiopia.
Her links to Nigeria emerged when she worked as an employee for deported Antony Chinedu. Police records indicate that after Chinedu's deportation, she then established her own drug business by distributing heroin both locally and internationally.
Her recruits are said to be collecting the cocaine from couriers in Addis Ababa destined for the Asian, Arab and European markets.
Reports further indicate that in the last one year, Akinyi has transferred over 20 drug mules. Her associate identified as Wycliffe Were was recently nabbed in New Delhi having ingested drug pellets.
Mboga is currently in custody awaiting a date in court on Monday.
