Deputy President William Ruto should avail himself for lifestyle audit to show his commitment in fight against graft, Rift Valley rebel MPs have warned.
While Ruto has maintained his willingness to explain his source of wealth, a section of MPs backing his presidential bid have dismissed it as 'witch-hunt',.
"Lifestyle audit has been crafted in a way that it targets Ruto. We are aware of the plot and we shall fight back," Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei had argued.
So controversial was that even Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen openly accused a clique of individuals at the Office of the President of allegedly working derail Ruto's ambitions.
Reacting to Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter's victory, the rebels led by Moiben MP Silas Tiren challenged Ruto to openly face the audit.
"We must be candid in the fight against graft. You cannot say you are ready yet some brokers have openly challenged it. We must know ho you acquired wealth," said Tiren, in an indirect reference to Ruto.
Emurua Dikir MP Johanna Ng'eno added: "We must fight war as a team. He (Ruto) must show us commitment by rebuking those who mislead him."
While addressing his supporters, Keter appeared to disregard Ruto when he said he will directly work with President Uhuru Kenyatta and the electorates in fight against graft.
Slightly a day after Keter's victory was upheld, another rebel Kangogo Bowen of Marakwet East survived the axe having lost earlier at the High Court.
Apparently, both Bowen, Keter and Tiren lost leadership in parliamentary committees and openly rebuked Ruto for their election woes.
