Residents in Mvita Constituency have expressed their disappointments with the Mombasa county government over poor drainage systems.
Residents of Simu ya Upepo Road in Mvita, Mombasa County, have taken the matter into their own hands to solve a draining problem that was posing health risks to them.
According to the video shared online by Mombasa County Government Watch, the residents had decided to take the matter into their own hands to escape health risks and dangers the leaking sewage was posing to them.
The residents said that it was not their first time they are using their own resources over the same drainage system.
"This is the second time we are doing this, the first time we did and drained out all this water, unfortunately, the placed was again filled with dirty water the following day.
"This is basically because there is one sewage pipe that is leaking and directing its leakage to this trench, so what we have decided to do is completely closing down that pipe because we have no other option, we have talked to the owner of the pipe by they are not cooperating," said an angry resident.
The county has been facing drainage problems in recent times especially during rainy seasons. Roads have been flooding in different parts of the county including the city.
