Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has named the one thing he will demand from former Prime Minister Raila Odinga before he retires to his Bondo home after exiting Kenya's political scene.
Khalwale who was speaking in Kakamega on Saturday said he will ensure Raila pays the political debt Western region and members of the Luhya community owe him after he was supported for the presidency in 2007, 2013 and 2017.
"Our first friend is Raila who is retiring. He has our debt. Whether he likes it or not, when we merge and form one political party, I will go to Migori, I will go to Siaya, I will go to Homa Bay and I will go to Kisumu to demand our debts. We voted for Jaramogi [Oginga Odinga] and we voted for him three times. If anyone wants to stone me, let him do it. They owe us," Khalwale said.
Khalwale maintains that people from Western Kenya will never abandon their 'brothers and sisters' from the lake region.
The former Ikolomani MP is currently pushing for a unity between Western, Nyanza and Rift Valley ahead of the 2022 general election.
