Muthama says the victory is as a result of intensive door to door campaigns Wiper party conducted in the constituency.

In a phone interview on Saturday, the vocal former legislator said Wiper party deserved to win back the parliamentary seat as it was the only one for Wiper in Nairobi, adding that ODM should have just supported Mawathe.

"We told them (ODM) that Wiper was going to retain the seat but they barked at us and reminded us on how we betrayed Raila Odinga," he said.

Muthama noted that ODM would have saved itself from the embarrassment if it had endorsed Mawathe pointing out that Wiper's win was a sign of good things to come.

He said the party is rebuilding itself with focus on the 2022 general election.

Muthama was the chief campaigner for Mawathe in the by-election and pitched camp in the constituency for weeks conducting door-to-door campaigns.

The Wiper candidate won the by-election garnering 21,628 votes to defeat Ishard Sumra of ODM who managed 7,988 votes.

The Orange Party also suffered defeat in Ugenya where David Ochieng clinched the seat by garnering 18,730.
