The event which is scheduled to take place today at the Kondele Roundabout has Boniface Mwangi as the Chief Guest.

According to the meeting’s convener, Kisumu based activist Boniface Ogutu Akach, they decided to invite Boniface Mwangi due to his track in previous social justice activism activities.

“He is a social justice champion,” said Akach.

In April last year, Mr Akach hit news headlines after he went on a hunger strike to protest government’s move to deport former Nairobi County Gubernatorial candidate Joshua Miguna Miguna to Canada.

Apart from the launch of the Kondele Community Justice Centre, other activities lined up for the day are community conversations, legal aid clinics and thematic performances.

Kondele is known for violent confrontations between police and locals whenever residents feel aggrieved by something close to their hearts, especially differences over election results.

The Justice Centre is being launched as Kenyans unite with the rest of the world in marking the World Day of Social Justice.

This year’s theme is “If you Want Peace & Development, Work for Social Justice.”

Job creation and better quality jobs are some of the social justice courses being spearheaded by social justice activists across the world.
