Migori Governor Okoth Obado is finally out of detention after High court judge Jessie Lessit released him on a Sh5 million bail on Wednesday.

He is facing murder charges after being linked to the death of Sharon Otieno and her unborn baby last month.

The County boss and his co-accused, Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero have denied the charges.

The second term County Chief is without a doubt a happy man to be out of detention.

Now that he is out, here are the three things he should consider doing urgently:

First, he must move with speed to assure Migori  residents of better service delivery.

Since his arrest and detention more than three weeks ago, service delivery in the border county has reportedly been on an all time low.

He must assure residents that he is ready and able to serve them, in spite of the weight of murder charges hanging on his shoulders.

Secondly, he should forge a better working relationship with the new Migori Senator George Ochillo Ayacko.

The two have had a love-hate relationship arising from last year’s polls when they vied against each other, in the hotly contested Migori County gubernatorial elections.

The governor should swallow his pride and reach out to the Senator, not only for his good, but the good of Migori residents.

Finally, Governor Obado should take the bull by its horns and reconcile with ODM leaders in Migori, Luo Nyanza and beyond.

It is an open secret that he has not been in good terms with a section of ODM leaders, among them party leader Raila Odinga after he decided to oppose Ayacko as the party’s choice for the recently conducted senatorial by-election.

Time has come for him to make peace with all who felt insulted and betrayed by his decision, to throw his weight behind Federal Party of Kenya’s Eddy Oketch.
