Deputy President William Ruto has pledged Sh50 million to soccer national team Harambee Stars if they beat Ethiopia on Sunday, October 14.
Ruto also confirmed the government through the Sports Ministry had on Thursday, October 11, released all the players' allowances amounting to Sh25 million for their national duty.
DP Ruto said this when he visited the teamteam at the Kasarani Grounds.
"It was brought to our attention that the issues of allowances. I want to state here allowances which were expected for this match to move on were released yesterday (October 11), a total of KSh 25 million and all the allowances will be paid," he told players.
The deputy president who had in 2017 promised the national soccer team an official bus, said the vehicle would be delivered in November 2018 for players' transport.
Harambee Stars on Wednesday October 10, held Walya Antelopes of Ethiopia to a goalless draw in the first leg of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) set for Cameroon.
A draw on Sunday will cement the Star's grip in group F where they are top with four points and closely followed by Ghana.
Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa announced entry to Kasarani stadium will be free to allow Kenyans cheer their team to victory.
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and nominated Senator Millicent Omanga also offered free transport for the soccer loving fans to the match venue.
Sonko has said 150 buses will carry fans to the Kasarani Stadium come Sunday.
