Sharon Otieno, the Rongo University student whose lifeless body was retrieved on Tuesday at K'Odera forest, was allegedly pregnant for senior politician, reports the Standard.
Nation Media journalist Barack Oduor narrated his ordeal with the lady under the hands of abductors before narrowly escaping possible murder by whisker.
At Kisumu on Tuesday, Oduor said he was investigating a story in which the student had allegedly conceived for a senior politician.
To solve he matter, he said, met the girl at Rodi Kopany market where a PA to the politician was to issue a statement over the matter.
And hours later, the PA changed venue to Rongo town forcing the two to board a matatu to meet him.
“When we got out of the hotel, he told us to board his vehicle so we could move to a different hotel within Rongo town. He was with the driver and a co-driver,” said Oduor.
The man in the center of the probe, Michael Oyamo, is said to be aide to Migori Governor Okoth Obado.
Moments after boarding Oyamo's PA, the vehicle would be driven towards Homa Bay where two other men joined.
“We sat in the middle. One man was in the far left and the other far right seat. They ordered us to surrender our phones and all property we had. That is when I knew we had been abducted,” said Oduor.
Sensing a possible abduction, Oduor jumped out of the moving vehicle and has been recuperating in Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu.
Even after the arrest of Oyamo, Migori Governor Okoth Obado has distanced himself from the saga.
Mr. Oduor said he suspects that kidnappers wanted to sabotage his investigations on the love gone sour.
"I suspect they wanted to prevent me from investigating the matter."
Nyanza top detective Michael Baraza says the PA is the prime suspect.
