Speaking after giving out the scholarships to the students, Governor Amason Kingi commended the Cooperative Bank of Kenya for its relentless efforts in ensuring bright and needy pupils have access to education.

He said the enactment of the Ward Scholarship Fund Administration Act has enabled many bright but needy students access education.

"A total of Ksh350 million is allocated annually and distributed evenly among all the 35 wards in Kilifi County, thereby increasing retention and completion rates in secondary and tertiary learning institutions and universities countywide," disclosed the governor on Thursday.

He further affirmed that his government will endeavor to automate the Ward Scholarship Fund through the acquisition and operationalization of Management Information System to improve efficiency, effectiveness and responsiveness in the administration of the fund.

According to Governor Kingi, "this will curb abuse of this fund by ill intended people and ensure our bright minds stay in school and acquire knowledge and contribute to nation building."
