Kiplagat requires the huge sum of money to travel to India for a bone marrow transplant.

Jude, as he is popularly known among his peers, is currently admitted at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital where he has been receiving treatment since December, last year.

The young man was forced to abandon his studies after clearing Form Four in order to support his younger sister who is currently enrolled in a tertiary college.

The friends and relatives have come up with a Safaricom paybill number and posters which have been massively shared in different social media platforms in their efforts to raise money to cater for the cost of treatment.

One of the posts reads, “I am Jude Rono. I was recently diagnosed with acute leukemia and currently hospitalized at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital. I am an orphan with a sister in tertiary college who depends on me. I have been doing odd jobs to support myself and her. The burden has been too much for us even before my condition. I need urgent medical attention in India for a bone marrow transplant that will cost 6 million Kenyan shillings.”

Any financial support towards Jude’s medical bill should be channelled through Safaricom M-Pesa paybill number 116 142, Account name JUDE.
