Okoth says that the Monday incident painted a negative image of Nairobi.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Okoth asked MCAs to stop engaging in acts that shame Nairobians.

The MP said that the MCAs should have asked the embattled speaker to leave office politely.

“It was shameful and as leaders we must learn on how to conduct ourselves in a civilized manner,” he said.

Okoth said that Elachi’s impeachment should have been handled in the right manner.

“I think the MCAs rushed in their decision to impeach her and should have given her second chance,” he said.

The ODM MP said that Elachi’s impeachment is likely to halt activities at City Hall.

Elachi was impeached last week after 103 out 122 MCAs voted in support of the motion.

The MCAs accused the embattled speaker of contravening House Standing Orders and allegedly intimidating staff.

Elachi however obtained court orders halting her impeachment.

On Monday, she was forcefully ejected out of office by MCAs who insisted that she must go.

Elachi has vowed to fight her impeachment in court.
