The incident reportedly happened in Kimeswon village on Thursday night, in what family members and villagers believe was as a result of love gone sour.

According to witness James Sang, Peter Langat (19) killed Mercy Chepkurui whom he was to marry next month over infidelity allegations .

"The man was angered after he allegedly discovered that his girlfriend whom he had promised to marry had other lovers. He strangled her and later killed himself,” Sang said.

He addressed the press at the village on Friday.

The incident was confirmed by area sub-county police commander Hesbon Kadenge who said his officers were probing the incident and will as well conduct postmortem tests on the bodies.

“We have launched investigations into the matter as we wait for the autopsy,” Kadenge said.

Neighbors said they woke up to find the lady lying on the ground while Langat's body was dangling on a rope from the roof on Friday morning.

They claimed that the man had attempted to poison the girl friend some time back.

Both the bodies were removed to Milo Sub-county Hospital's mortuary.
