The incident happened on Thursday at Ikenye village in Bogeka, Kisii County.

Margaret Barongo claimed that her late father, David Machuki didn't have a son and she must inherit the family land.

"I must inherit the land legally before he is buried because my uncles want to grab the land," she stated.

Mrs Barongo, a mother of 3 accused his father's elder brother, Enock Momanyi of bribing the area assistant chief, Emmanuel Mokua to rush the burial so that he can grab the land.

"I am not to allow the burial to proceed until I get the legal land documents changed to bare my name. It is my right to inherit the family land," she said.

Mr Mokua, the area chief said the deceased body was supposed to be picked from mortuary on Thursday for burial on Friday.

"Yes, it is true the funeral has been postponed until a later date. The deceased daughter wants to get the land inheritance documents changed so the family should sit down and agree on the matter," he said.

He dismissed claimed that he received a bribe from the deceased's brother.
