A NASA rebel MP in Kisii County has weighed in on the fake gold scam after Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and opposition leader Raila Odinga were dragged into the scandal.
Speaking on Monday at Ikoba Primary School in Tabaka Ward, South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro said the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) should be allowed to investigate the matter and bring the suspects to book.
The vocal legislator said it is wrong for Matiang'i and Raila to be dragged into the fake gold scam given the weight of the matter.
"I wish to differ with some of my colleagues who believe that Matiang'i and Raila have been involved in one way or the other in the fake gold scam. As leaders, we should stop dragging people's names carelessly into matters of national importance. Let the investigative agencies do their work to ensure those engaging in dubious dealings are brought to book," he stated.
Mr Osoro who is perceived to be a close ally to Deputy President William Ruto wondered why the fake gold scam has been politicised.
"It is sad that the fake gold scam is being politicised yet it is a serious matter which must be addressed with caution. Politicians should stop politicising everything they come across," he added.
