The possibility of ODM party leader Raila Odinga forging a closer working relationship with Baringo Senator Gideon Moi ahead of the 2022 general elections continues to dominate political discussions in Kisumu.
Over the weekend, Senator Moi, son to former President Daniel Moi was in Homabay County where he spoke about a possible collaboration with Odinga ahead of 2022.
Kisumu’s Kondele Ward Member of the County Assembly (MCA) Joackim Oketch, popularly known as Swagga says that residents of Kisumu and Nyanza in general should expect to see Odinga and Moi forging a closer working relationship going forward.
“There’s a high probability of Odinga and Moi working together. The March 09, 2018 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga brought forth the building bridges initiative.
"That is why Baba (Raila Odinga) can go to Rift Valley, while Gideon Moi can go to Homabay swiftly. Baba will still be active in 2022 and he may end up forming an alliance with Moi,” he said exclusively.
The first-time MCA who was elected on the ODM party ticket, however, said that he is not so sure whether Odinga will vie for Presidency in 2022 and have Mr Moi as his running mate.
In August, the former Prime Minister visited Mzee Daniel Moi at his Kabarak home leading to speculations of a possible Raila-Moi political partnership.
