Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati's efforts to champion for the release of estranged businessman Don Bosco Gichana seems to have yielded fruits following Raila Odinga's Tuesday trip to Tanzania.
On Saturday, Arati, buoyed by thousands of youths at Gusii stadium, challenged Raila to openly declare his stand on Gichana's woes.
"Bwana Prime Minister, these souls here wants Bosco to be released. His tormentors are yet to prove the alleged crimes. We want to know whether you're with us or them," said Arati amid cheers from the public.
While giving his speech in full to capacity stadium, Raila conceded that the matter had taken long adding that he would swiftly act.
And besides attending president John Magufuli's sister burial on Tuesday, a former MP has said, Raila will hold meeting with Magufuli over Bosco's fate.
"He was disturbed with the issue and he openly stated that he will handle the matter. They will meet today and hopefully this issue will be concluded," said the former legislator in confidence.
The ODM leader jetted out to Tanzania on Tuesday for Monica Joseph's burial in Mwanza.
Mr. Arati, the self-proclaimed Gusii spokesman has been championing for Bosco's release along with a host of youths.
His rallies both in Kisii and Nyamira Counties have sparked an outcry with locals blaming Tanzania for illegal detention of the businessman.
In 2007, Mr. Gichana, whose money laundering and fraud charges are yet to be proven five years down the line, featured in Raila's campaigns.
