Police in Kiang’ombe  Thika sub-county, Kiambu have launched a manhunt for a middle-aged man who is accused of stabbing his wife to death after a quarrel over food on Sunday night.

The man only identified as Mr Githuku is said to have arrived at his home in Kiang’ombe estate on Sunday at 9pm and picked a quarrel with his wife identified as Mary Muthoni over food.

According to neighbours, the man stabbed Muthoni after she asked for money to buy food.

The man is said to have slapped his stepdaughter and chased her away before committing the crime.

The stepdaughter according to witnesses spent the night at her neighbour's house.

Muthoni’s lifeless body was found on Monday morning lying in a pool of blood on her bed.

According to police, the girl is said to have found the lifeless body of her mother after she went back to the house the next morning to collect her school uniform.

“We were alerted by the daughter's screams on Monday at 6.30am and found the lifeless body of Muthoni in a pool of blood", a neighbour who sought anonymity told journalists.

Confirming the incident, Thika OCPD Willy Simba said that they are looking for the man who escaped after committing the crime.

“We are hunting for him and once arrested he will be arraigned in court and charged with the murder of his wife,” said Simba.

The body was taken to General Kago funeral home awaiting an autopsy.
