Msambweni Member of Parliament Suleiman Dori on Wednesday led a delegation of legislators from the Coastal region, accompanied by the Minority Chief Whip Junet Mohammed to a private meeting with opposition leader Raila Odinga.
The meeting came just a day after the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) recommended for the expulsion of Dori, and his Malindi counterpart Aisha Jumwa together with a number of county legislators for allegedly disrespecting the party.
During the meeting, Odinga reportedly assured the legislators that those recommended for expulsion will be given a fair hearing.
"Hon Odinga assured the leaders that those mentioned in the disciplinary committee report of ODM will be given a fair hearing by the National Executive Committee,” a statement from Odinga's team read as quoted by Nation.
On his part, Dori affirmed that he was ready to work with the party to reach an amicable situation.
“We assure you that we are available for regular consultations with, and guidance by, the party. “As you may have noticed, we have slowed down on 2022 campaigns as you had advised and we remain committed to actions that strengthen rather than weaken the party,” he said as quoted by Nation.
