Former Subukia Member of Parliament Koigi Wa Wamwere now wants reforms in the judiciary, beginning from the top.
Speaking on Saturday, the veteran politician called for the introduction of a better judicial system, far from the current one which he termed as dictatorial.
He said that the courts were established to act as the houses of justice, but have been switched to resemble institutions of manipulation and punishment of the poor and weak.
"Courts were established to be places where the weak and vulnerable can ran to and get justice, but they are now dictatorial houses where only the strong survive," he said.
The former Assistant Cabinet Minister who was speaking in an interview on Radio Sauti ya Mwananchi's Cheche show on Saturday evening also added that the Kenyan courts lack the calm and peace required and the relationship between judges and the accused needs improvement.
"In Kenya, you can always detect if you will be jailed because the judges are not friendly at all. This needs to be addressed so that even convicts feel they were rightfully jailed and not because of the judges' anger or mood swings," he added.
He narrated being treated to the dictatorship while following a court hearing in Nakuru some time back and was mercilessly thrown out when his phone rang.
"I was there quietly following the hearing when my phone rang. I knew it was wrong so I immediately bent before the judge and apologized but he never wanted to hear any of it. Instead, he threw me out, humiliating me before the entire courtroom," he added.
Wamwere ran for the Nakuru senatorial race in the 2017 elections but lost at the Jubilee Party nomination level.
He has since crossed over to opposition leader Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
