Kenyans online have praised President Uhuru Kenyatta after she met the midwife who helped his mother, Mama Ngina Kenyatta, give birth to him.
President Uhuru reunited with the midwife, Ms Fredah Shibonje, over the weekend at Kakamega State Lodge after the Mashujaa Day celebrations at Bukhungu Stadium.
79-year-old Shibonje had a conversation with President Uhuru as they held hands while smiling.
Ms Shibonje, a mother of seven children and grandmother of 16 had longed to see President Uhuru and her wish finally came true when the two met on Saturday.
Ms Shibonje who looked elegant in a blue and pink skirt suit was the nurse on duty at Aga Khan Hospital who helped deliver President Uhuru on October 26, 1961.
President Uhuru’s wife Margaret Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto together with his wife Rachel and Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka watched from a distance as Uhuru talked with Ms Shibonje.
